What Are the Renewal Requirements?

As a cosmetologist in the state of Arizona, you are required to renew your license every two years by your birthday. Arizona does not require continuing education through your beauty school to renew your license; however, continuing education units are beneficial for staying up to date on industry practices.

What Is Reciprocity?

beauty schoolCosmetology license reciprocity allows you to transfer your current out of state license to the state of Arizona. Licensed cosmetologists can apply for the reciprocity program by submitting an application to the Board of Cosmetology.

You also need to include evidence that you are currently licensed, as well as proof that you have graduated from a certified beauty school. You may also be required to submit a passport-quality photo and a written statement disclosing any license suspension or revocation in another state.

Where Do I Renew?

If your cosmetology license is up for renewal, you can complete the process online, in person, or by mail through the Arizona board of cosmetology.

The cost to renew a personal license for two years is $60.00, but there is a delinquency fee of $30.00 for those who renew their licenses 60 days after the expiration date. Salon licenses can be renewed for up to one year and cost $50.00.
