An iPad® gives you a world of information and connection that you can carry with you in the perfect blend of iPhone® and laptop. Unfortunately, your tablet may sometimes stop working, leaving you disconnected. Some of these issues have an easy fix, and others just need the attention of an iPad repair specialist. Here are a few troubleshooting tips for common issues.

What’s Wrong With Your iPad?

1. Power Problems

If your iPad screen stays black when you try to turn it on, first try to reset it by pressing the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons for at least 10 seconds. If that doesn’t make a logo appear on the screen, connect the tablet to the charger.

If the charging symbol appears, then the issue was likely a dead battery; if not, your battery may not be accepting a charge, which is likely a hardware issue. In that case, you need professional iPad repairs.

2. Freezing & Crashing

If an app freezes while you’re using it or the whole iPad crashes and restarts without warning, you’re likely having software issues. When this happens, the old standby trick of “turn it off and on again” is the easiest solution. For a crashing app, that means you should go to the home menu and completely close the program, not just tab away.

3. Connectivity Issues

Most of your iPad’s functions rely on an internet connection, so when it won’t link up with the WiFi, you’re stuck. Look through the WiFi settings on your tablet to see if your network shows up. If it does, try forgetting the network and then reconnecting to it. If it doesn’t show up, reset your router.

If your device doesn’t show any WiFi networks—and you know there are ones nearby—you may be in airplane mode or might have the internet disabled, so check those settings. If that isn’t the issue, once again try resetting the device, and if that doesn’t work, take it to a repair shop.
