Jeep® introduced their first pickup truck in 1947 and their most recent model in 2020. Over the years, these vehicles have gained a devoted following for their durability and ingenuity, as they have always been unique compared to other types of trucks on the market. If you want to learn more about these vehicles, here are several of the most popular Jeep trucks throughout the company's history.

What Are Some Vintage Jeep Pickup Trucks?

1. Jeep FC® Series

This line of trucks was released from 1956 to 1965. The model was known as the Jeep Forward Control® (FC), and it had a cab-over-engine design. This yielded a flat nose and no hood because the cabin was above the engine and steering axle. The distinctive style allowed Jeep to manufacture an extended bed and attach it to the truck without exceeding highway regulations at the time, maximizing functionality. This truck became a favorite among farmers because it had several tractor-like attachments and you could get it with a 72 or 115 horsepower engine.

2. Jeep Gladiator®

While this model was originally released as the Gladiator® in 1962, it was changed to the J-series® in 1971. This model became Jeep's longest running pickup truck, and it was produced until 1988. Aside from the name change, Jeep made only minor mechanical modifications each year, which meant this vehicle had a timeless design throughout its production. However, they released a trim package called the Honcho® in 1976 and offered it until 1983. The J10 model with this trim package is now considered one of the rarest pickup trucks available.

3. Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler®

Produced from 1981 to 1986, the CJ-8 Scrambler® was essentially a Wrangler® with a pickup bed. This meant it had a convertible top that came in both hardtop and softtop models. The chassis also had a 5 foot bed, allowing the driver to haul materials in the back. The name came from a trim package that included special wheels and graphics. As far as popularity, these vehicles were coveted by Jeep fans because they were functional and stylish. Former President Ronald Reagan even used one on his ranch in California.
