Weekly washing is recommended if you're driving the truck frequently. If it's mostly kept in storage, cleaning twice per month should suffice. 

2. Use Two Buckets When Washing

Having one bucket for rinsing and one for washing can greatly reduce the risk of scratches and defects on the body of your truck. Start by soaking a microfiber cloth or sponge in the first bucket and then use it to wipe down the vehicle. When you're finished, squeeze the wet cloth into the second bucket to deposit any debris that it picked up. Now return to the first bucket to finish washing your vehicle. This method not only stops debris from being dragged over the paint, it also enhances efficiency, since you won't be cleaning the truck with dirty water. 

3. Apply Wax Carefully

Waxing your vintage vehicle adds another layer of protection to the clear coat and paint. Most wax should be applied once every three months, but some brands can be applied once every few days or weeks for increased protection. When waxing your truck, focus on one panel at a time to ensure even application. Using a clean microfiber cloth, add a layer of wax to the panel. Wait a few minutes for it to turn hazy, then wipe away the excess with another microfiber cloth.
