Working from home has become a way of life for many people. Because of that, their home offices have expanded. If you’re moving, you want to ensure that you’re able to get up and running quickly at your new home. It all begins with careful, strategic packing. Here are several useful tips to follow leading up to moving day.

How to Pack Up Your Home Office

1. Use Strong Boxes & Cushioning

Office equipment, books, and documents can get heavy. They’re also fragile, so start by purchasing strong, durable packing boxes. These will stand up to the general stress of being handled to and from the moving truck and while in transit to your new home.

Also, pick up plenty of bubble wrap, packing paper, and loose-fill packing material. These provide added cushion to all your fragile items.

2. Disassemble Electronics

You don't want to discover computer tower components that have snapped off while moving or that other electronics are missing parts. Take each device apart one by one so that everything fits comfortably in the box. Place power cords, cables, and other parts in bags and carefully label them so you don’t have to search for them at the new home.

3. Label Everything

Labeling ensures you never have to rifle through boxes looking for an important item. Plan to label each box, and don’t be afraid to go overboard. Write each content in permanent marker on the side, or number the box and create a corresponding inventory sheet. You’ll get set up much faster at your new place knowing where everything is and can get right to work when the next workday arrives.
