Rescheduled BBA 1.3 Meeting
The brutal cold weather in January caused us to postpone the January BBA meeting. It is now scheduled for Thursday evening, February 1 at the Civic Center in Clifton. The meeting will start at 6:00 pm and will include dinner, so come hungry! Remember, we will focus on forages. This will include a general discussion on the different forage types in Bosque County and the unique management strategies for each. There will be a great session on the use of herbicides to grow more grass. Timing, application rates and costs of herbicides will be thoroughly discussed. We will have plenty of time to answer questions…….so bring your list!
How Much Should I Feed
Ranchers should select the proper feeding rate to supplement their hay based on cow size, cow condition, stage of production, forage quality, and forage quantity. For those who feed Accuration Liquid, the science behind the product determines the daily consumption to balance out your forage. If you feed range cubes to supplement your hay, the chart at the bottom will help you determine a feeding rate. It will be important to know the quality score of your hay. We will explain the chart at our meeting on February 1.
