Known for their intuitive interface and sleek design, Apple® laptops are popular with an impressive range of users. Some use them for school, others for graphics-intensive creative work, and some just for browsing the web. With Apple, there are two options: the MacBook Pro® and the MacBook Air®. While both utilize the same operating system, their hardware is slightly different and serves different needs. Here are some key differences that will help you better understand how they can be used and which is a better fit for your daily life.

MacBook Pro

For those who need something more substantial, the Macbook Pro can handle what you have to do. It has more processing power, which means you'll be able to boot up multiple programs without encountering much lag. It's much more robust if you need it for intense multimedia work, such as photography, graphic design, audio production, or videography.

This Apple laptop line also comes with bigger screen options, which are also useful for creative professionals or educational studies. It's a bit thicker and heavier than the MacBook Air line by about a pound or so, depending on the model, but this size difference allows for port connectivity in most generations, so if you need to connect a camera and external hard drive, you don't have to worry about getting a dongle with extra ports.

MacBook Air

For those who don't need to depend on an Apple laptop heavily, the MacBook Air will serve every daily need. It's lighter, so you can easily haul it around in your bag or backpack, which is excellent for students and commuters.

This lightness does come at a cost, but losing multiple port connectivity isn't much of a problem if most of your activities are done online, on the cloud, or via Bluetooth® technology. This laptop line is also a bit more affordable than the MacBook Pro; the MSRP of the smallest MacBook Air is usually at least $300 cheaper. If you're on a budget, it may be best to choose this casual-user favorite.
