One of the many draws of the iPhone® is how simple it is to set up, but the screen can seem a bit crowded after downloading the apps you need and the games you want. Fortunately, Apple® also makes it easy to optimize your device for maximum efficiency and keep your home page organized. Here are a few simple tips for creating a user-friendly interface for your phone.

How to Optimize Your iPhone Screen

1. Update the iOS®

Apple’s new App Library is the key to keeping your icons and programs organized. To use this feature, your iPhone will need to run iOS 14 or later. If you don’t see the App Library, update to the latest OS by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

2. Organize Your App Library

Swiping left as many times as possible from your home screen reveals the new App Library, which organizes all your apps by category. You can also create folders to organize your favorite apps in a way that makes sense to you. Just drag one icon over another, and release it when you see a folder symbol with the two apps inside.

3. Use Widgets

iPhone

Widgets are features that are becoming increasingly popular on iPhone devices. These larger icons show feeds from your apps, allowing you to see incoming emails, message text, and even news reports at a glance. Widgets take up more screen space, but they can save you the trouble of constantly tapping on the apps you use the most.

4. Experiment With Widget Stacks

Stacks are an innovative feature that allows up to 10 widgets to occupy the same space on your screen. Instead of making new home pages to make room for all the widgets, you can simply swipe up to cycle through the stack.

Smart stacks take the concept a bit further by trying to understand your preferences and routines. When smart stacks are enabled, your iPhone will display the widgets you interact with the most. If the info you see isn’t what you were looking for, you can simply swipe up to cycle through the widgets like any other stack.

5. Use the App Suggestion Widget

The App Suggestion widget tracks your daily habits to decide which app to display at any given time. For instance, if you frequently check your email in the morning, you’ll see your inbox in the widget when you first get up. Later, the widget will display apps you frequently access in the afternoon.
