1. Consult With a Doctor

Make sure your physician has cleared you to begin a fitness program. This is especially important if you have a preexisting health condition. Your doctor will tell you which activities are beneficial based on your age and health and physical stamina, and which exercises you should avoid. 

2. Partner With a Personal Trainer

Working out with a friend or a close relative is fun and invigorating. Having a workout partner can be motivating, and there will also be someone nearby should any issues occur.

Choose activities that get the heart going, such as walking, swimming, or yoga. Don’t be afraid to participate in a bit of friendly competition. Keep it light, and always go at your own pace.
