These exercises lengthen muscles to increase agility and flexibility, making it possible to execute moves without difficulty. How Does Stretching Benefit Young Dancers?
1. Boosts Energy & Endurance
Side-shuffle steps, pulling each knee to the chest, and other dynamic stretches should be used as warm-up exercises. As a result, the joints go through a full range of motions. The movements increase blood flow throughout the body to help your child feel more energized. The improved blood circulation slows muscle fatigue, increasing a performer's stamina and endurance. Being able to sustain prolonged physical activity will keep your child comfortable during rehearsals and competitions.
2. Corrects Posture Problems
Overworking muscles by not stretching before a rehearsal can lead to tightness during and after dance class. Tight muscles can throw a dancer's back and other body parts out of alignment. Stretching extends the contracted muscles to prompt them back into the proper position. This action, in turn, improves a dancer's posture. Your child will maintain better control of their form, helping them appear stronger and more self-assured while performing.
3. Prevents Stiffness
Static stretches involve holding the same seated or standing position for an extended period. Your child should perform these exercises during the cooldown phase after dance classes. As a result, they'll help pliable muscles relax, recover, and avoid tightness.
Stretching tight hamstrings, for instance, prevents muscles from rotating the pelvis incorrectly. This action reduces the odds of your youngster feeling sore or experiencing restricted movement while playing, doing chores, and performing other activities outside of class.
