Facelifts in the United States are more popular and safer than they have ever been, and many people are seeking them out. However, the recovery process still needs to be taken seriously for the operation to be a full success. If you’re one of those looking to decrease wrinkles and eliminate sagging skin, follow these recovery tips.

3 Recovery Tips After a Facelift

1. Rest

As with any surgery, after a facelift, you’ll need to avoid exertion. This surgery takes a lot out of your body, and you’ll need to sleep and recover to heal properly. Getting a full night’s sleep, or more, helps your body knit itself back together, and resting throughout the day keeps your blood flow low. Too much activity can increase blood flow to your face, which puts you at risk of bleeding and discomfort.

2. Keep Your Head Elevated

It’s not unusual for patients to experience swelling after a facelift, so elevate your head to keep blood from pooling near the surgical site. Avoid lying flat, bending over, or reclining your head too much. You should do this for at least three days and as long as a week, if possible.

3. Prepare Your Home Ahead of Time

To facilitate a faster recovery, you should prepare your home ahead of time. You’ll be moving about your home differently, possibly sleeping in a different area, and you’ll be less capable of performing daily tasks. Stock up on groceries so you won’t have to leave the house, prepare your sleeping area, and clean up so that you won’t be tempted to do chores when you should be resting.
