When it comes to CrossFit®, the clothing you wear can have a big impact on your success. After all, the right attire will offer a free range of motion without impeding you during workouts. On the other hand, the wrong clothing can make exercise awkward and may even lead to injuries. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when choosing clothing.

Breathable Fabrics

CrossFit workouts are sure to work up a sweat, so breathable fabrics are key. Breathable fabrics allow the flow of air over the skin to ensure moisture evaporates quickly. You can also look for moisture-wicking fabrics for even greater comfort. 

Snug Fitting Shorts or Pants

A snug fit in exercise garments is crucial for safe and effective workouts. Bike shorts are ideal in this regard, but tights also work well if you're training in colder temperatures. Just make sure your gear isn't too restrictive, or it will become uncomfortable. 

Sports Bras

Many people performing grueling workouts will also need additional support in the chest area. Sports bras are key in this respect, as they prevent discomfort and ensure you can exert maximum effort while training. 

What Not to Wear

Anything Ill-Fitting

You should also avoid anything baggy. Loose items can get caught on equipment or cause you to trip, both of which can lead to injuries. 

Apparel Made From Cotton

Cotton tends to absorb moisture, which means your attire will become heavy and uncomfortable as you sweat. It can also lead to skin irritation if you constantly exercise in wet clothing, so be sure to choose a more suitable fabric. 

Unsupportive Footwear

The right footwear will fit snugly without being too tight. It will also offer good support in the ankles and arches, as well as ensure good traction. If you're currently wearing older, unsupportive footwear, consider upgrading for workouts.
