What to Hike When Visiting the Denali National Park

1. Savage Loop

Nestled along both sides of Savage River, the Loop Trail follows the canyon between Healy Ridge and Mount Margaret. This measures just under two miles and takes hikes around one hour to complete. It offers up-close views of the river, as well as a bridge to cross. Since the Savage Loop only involves no major elevation changes, it's one of the easier trails to complete.

2. Mount Healy

The Mount Healy trail is for individuals looking for a challenge, as it spans 2.7 miles one-way and takes around three to four hours total to finish. The trail follows a steady incline, leading hikers nearly halfway up Mount Healy, at an elevation increase of nearly 1,700 feet.

3. Rock Creek

This trail has a one-way distance of 2.4 miles and requires about two hours to complete. It connects the visitor center to the sled dog kennels, offering hikers ridge-line views of Mount Healy. The elevation gain is moderate, registering at 400 feet and making it suitable for beginners.

4. Triple Lakes

As the longest trail at 9.5 miles one-way, the Triple Lakes path is a challenging adventure. With an estimated completion time of four to five hours, this trail has an elevation of 1,000 feet in the middle. The path provides hikers with a view of creeks, bridges, and three lakes.
