Denali National Park is known around the world for its unparalleled beauty, and summer is the ideal time to visit if you want to explore the terrain. During this season, the weather is enjoyable, the wildlife is active, and all the tourism services are operating. Here are a few activities to put on your itinerary.

3 Things to Do in Denali During the Summer

1. Go Flightseeing

A plane or helicopter tour from the air will let you see a lot at once, including dramatic views of America's tallest mountains and the incredible landscape around it. Reservations for this popular activity fill quickly, so book the excursion in advance once you know which date you want to fly.

2. Take a Bus Tour

Most of Denali's roads are limited to buses, and there are many tourism companies in the park that offer trips to different destinations and at varying lengths. Taking advantage of a tour saves money on a rental car, and you can focus on enjoying the scenery and wildlife rather than navigating through the mountain.

3. Head to Savage River

This gorgeous destination is one of the few places inside the park that you can drive to yourself. It's a 15-minute drive inside the entrance and an excellent place to set up a picnic.

You can also park the car and go on a hike. The two-mile Savage River Loop Trail is accessible to adventurers of all skill levels, while the Savage Alpine Trail offers a challenging 4.1-mile trek to a peak but a free shuttle back to the parking lot.
